Testimonials

When the painting was delivered from the auction I must admit I was a little disappointed, it appeared to be in much better condition in the photo’s than in reality.

We had given up hope of finding anybody to restore it locally and then by chance we saw your advert in an old copy of the

Antique Trade Gazette.

From our very first contact with you, we were impressed with your professionalism and you immediately made us feel confident

that you were the right man for the job.

Thank you for keeping us updated at every stage of the process, your gentle hand has ensured that the Sybil wasn’t over restored and she looks so much better than when we bought her.

Cleaning, attending to flaking paint, retouching damaged areas and final varnishing have all been perfectly completed.

Your rates are also very fair indeed

and the fact that you provided an

initial guide prices was greatly appreciated.

Added to this your incredible knowledge and experience shone through when we were

looking at the painting with you.

We will not hesitate to recommend you in the future.

Thank you so much for all of your hard work.

Portrait of Sybil by Richard Buckner 1812- 1883

‘ I inherited this small , possibly 18th century , oil painting many years ago, and as it needed some restoration it was largely in store . Having retired, I decided getting it restored would be a worthwhile project but the initial quotes were prohibitive .

I recently contacted Brett having viewed his website .

He has carried out a fantastic restoration - cleaning the picture , repairing the cracked and flaking paint , repainting one damaged area of the hat where the paint was missing and

re-varnishing the finished surface .

The whole procedure from our first contact to receiving the painting back, took less than a month !

The cost was well within his estimate and much less than the previous quotes I had received. ‘

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the work you have done on the three portraits painted by my Great Grandmother in the 1880s.  You have done such a good job and I don't ever remember them looking this good.

Great job with very friendly and informative service.

Many thanks again

Having looked for a suitable restorer for an old oil painting, that has been in the family for several generations, I was keen to have the painting restored to a look it was supposed to be.

Brett has performed wonders and the difference is very significant. It was more than I had hoped for and an absolute delight to see it looking so good.

Brett explained what he would do, undertook the work in a very good timescale and charged at an exceptional value for money rate. I would thoroughly recommend Brett as his many years of work in this field demonstrates his skill in the work we had undertaken. Best wishes Philip

During a house move, a canvas by my

mother-in-law was damaged. It had sentimental value as it was a wedding present: a painting of one of our favourite places to walk. We weren’t sure where to turn for help in restoring it, but came across Brett’s website. From start to finish, Brett was kind and professional, and recognised the personal significance of the project. The results are amazing - looking at it, you’d never know it had been ripped in a few places. We can’t thank him enough!

Henry Day: 'A sensitive and effective restoration that reveals the true colours and impact of the sun struck rocks'.
